Kobo has announced the launch of its first waterproof cases e-reader whereby readers can now enjoy hassle-free reading wherever they go.
The Kobo Aura H20, which the Toronto-based company says is the world's first waterproof case for iPhone 5 "E Ink e-reader. " It is waterproof for up to 30 minutes in 1 meter of water with the port cover closed.
Now, the readers will be able to enjoy e-books anywhere they desire, including previously risky places including the beach or the bath.
In accordance with Michael Tamblyn, Kobo president, while the company tried to explore the reading habits of customers, it found that more than 60 percent of customers surveyed said they would like to read near water without any worry.
Consequently , the company designed the Kobo Aura H20 so that e-books can be in the same way common and fun to read in the bath or at the beach as they are in bed or on the bus.
According to a survey, 51 percent of book buyers in the first quarter of 2014 had a tablet to use as a dedicated e-reader, when compared to 25 percent who owned a device specially made for books.
Last year in the same period, 33 percent owned a tablet and 25 percent owned an e-reader. Though, the research demonstrates that more people buy books on e-readers than on tablets, but the gap is now closing, with 37 percent purchasing books on tablets, when compared with 28 per cent in 2013, and 46 per cent purchasing books on e-readers in 2014, a fall from 61 percent in 2013.
